Into the wild

[Crazed Lapras]

Alec hadn't wasted any time making his way to the head of the trail that wound through the fields that made up Route 1. His new friend Totodile's pokeball was still clenched in his hand, waiting for the perfect moment to let the water type emerge. Looking around, Alec grinned and pushed the button in the middle of the red and white orb.

Totodile emerged and echoed his new trainer's grin with a toothy smile of his own. Boy was he ready to go explore! And whoop some wild pokemon butt. And have fun making friends with Alec. The young man was drumming his fingers on his chin, looking at Totodile with a thoughtful expression.

"I've though of some nicknames. Perhapse you will like one?" When Totodile nodded vigorously, Alec continued. "How about Kingsly?" Totodile considered it for a moment, then shook his head. "Alright, how about Mander? Borim? Hagar? Omner?" Totodile continued to shake his head, until the last one. He kind of liked Omner. It had a mysterious ring to it, with a hint of machoness. Beaming, the water type nodded vigorously.

"Alright Omner. Let's go find some wild pokemon." With that, the pair set off down the heat baked path, trying to move quietly so as not to scare any pokemon that might be lurking nearby.

ic// Skippety, skippety, skip. Somehow the four legged Pokémon managed to skip down the route happily, humming tunelessly to herself. She was in a good mood for no perticular reason, although seeing a load of friends today had made her quite cheerful. That was probably it. Up ahead, she heard voices. At first, she stopped excitedly. Then she noticed that aside from the voice of a fellow Pokémon- the voice not being recognised by her- there was a human's voice. A trainer! The Pokémon froze for a moment, unsure of whether he'd be the sort to fight everything he saw or the sort who'd consider other Pokémon.

As Alec came into sight, it became apparent that this Pokémon was in fact a Mareep. She bleated softly to herself as he drew closer, feeling her chances were better since the only Pokémon at his side was a Totodile- a Water type, and trainers should be less likely to attack her at a type advantage, right? As the boy and crocodile came further along the path, the Electric type sheep remained as wary as she could possibly be, trying to make herself look tall and generating a little crackling static electricity in warning. ~Totodile, I don't know what your trainer's like but please don't fight me.~

Alec spotted the Mareep and raised an eyebrow. Ampharos was a powerful pokemon, which meant the little sheep in front of him had potential. The young man had missed the skipping part, so he was unaware of Mareep's personality. But even if the electric type wasn't cut out of his team, it would be good to give Omner some battle experience.

Opening his mouth to give the comand, Alec began "Omner, use..." He trailed off as the Totodile shook his head and held up a single claw, telling his trainer to wait. Alec bit down on his lower lip, a bubble of frustration welling up inside him. Who was supposed to be in charge here?! He folded his arms and drummed his fingers against his arm while Omner spoke to Mareep.

"There now, I don't intend to attack you. My trainer my seem hot headed but he's just excited to be heading out. We're going on an adventure!" The little crocodile smiled in a friendly way, his eyes lighting up at the future planned for him. "We are going to fight other trainers and meet powerful pokemon and see the world.... But what are you doing near the path if you don't like to fight? Most of the humans who walk through here are looking for pokemon to catch. If you're frightened of them you should stay away."

Mareep grinned in response as Omner didn't attack, stopping his trainer to the boy's annoyance. The sheep appreciated. She listened to Omner, nodding. ~I know, it's not that I don't like battling. See, I just feel like making a friend right now. I could battle you if want.~

[/color] she shrugged, not minding. She just wanted to get to know Omner and Alec a little first, in case she ended up getting caught out of choice of something.

The Electric trotted up to Alec next, nuzzling him gently in greeting. She let out a little bleat by means of hello, unsure of how to communicate with someone who didn't understand her.[/blockquote][/justify][/size][/font]

Alec waited as his pokemon communicated with his wild counterpart. Oh how he wished he understood poketalk, especially at moment like this. He was surprised when the Mareep walked over to him, nuzzling him. A friendly wild pokemon? He thought they were supposed to jump out savage and wild and ready to knock out every thing in sight. He smiled and laughed at himself for his stupidity. Of course life wouldn't really be so silly.

"Um, hello." he told Mareep, reaching down to pat her head awkwardly. Alec still wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea of being friendly with pokemon. This was a good chance to practice. "You, uh, look nice."

Omner laughed at his trainer, his large mouth splitting open in a giant smile. "See, he's not so bad. If it's friends your looking for, I'd be happy to oblige. Though I'm not sure how long we can stay. Alec has big plans for us." He walked over and sat by Mareep and Alec, idly tracing patterns in the dirt with his claws. "So what do you do for fun around here? Anything exciting to see? Life at the Lab is comfortable, but it feels good to get out and breathe fresh air and see more than a fenced in area."

Mareep was a little puzzled as to why Alec was so confused about a wild Pokémon being friendly, but at least Omner seemed nice enough. At least there was that. She shrugged in response to his question, unsure of how to answer. ~I guess I just get on with life as any normal person would. I train a little, find food, talk to my friends, that sort of thing. I know that plenty of Mareep live in small flocks, but I can't get enough of my kind together to have that. Maybe I could travel with you instead? I believe in safety in numbers, after all.~

[/color] she asked hopefully. She seemed very sweet indeed, if a little shy.

Glancing pointedly at Alec, she asked another question. ~How come he looks so shocked at me being friendly? Has he got some strange image of feral monsters lining every path in the routes or something? Is there any way we can talk to him at all, like perhaps learning to write or something?~[/color] she suggested. Her feet were not exactly designed to hold a pen, but Omner's might be able to if he was commited enough.[/blockquote][/justify][/size][/font]
