As the Albino Cyndaquil used the leer attack the Shieldon felt his defense stat lower. Then noticed the flurry of hearts coming at him. The fact that the attack was up close pretty much prevented him from dodging the attack, so it hit him full on. Shieldons have a high defense stat but the leer had lowered it causing him to lose a good bit of his Hp. He shook it off and glared at the albino.
His trainer smiled and then said, "Shieldon use Protect," this would cause damage to not be able to be done to the Shieldon for one turn. He used the move causing a ball like shield to form up around him. This combined with the taunt would cause the turn for the Cyndaquil which was impossible not to be a attack, be wasted.

Sulteron;; ♫ i've been crying for so long, fighting tears just to carry on, but now, but now it's gone away ♫ The wild Larvitar following Sulteron shook his head. ~There's no point in trying to attack, the Taunt means you can't use a stat changer and the Protect means you can't use and offensive attack.~
he pointed out. Sulteron nodded. This was true. She didn't really know what to say to Ilabi as there really was no point in attacking Sheildon, but just as well she didn't really want to just do nothing at all. "Ilabi, don't try and attack him, there's no point. Just rest until the next turn." was all she could say for now, feeling a little helpless. The albino Cyndaquil relaxed, allowing her muscles to try and recover as best as they could in the brief time she knew she had between now and when it was the Sheildon's turn to attack again and the Protect wore off so he would use a different. At least Protect didn't usually work if used more than once in a row, which meant she was more likely to end this battle sooner; it had been going on for quite some time and being at a disadvantage and all, Ilabi was feeling pretty tired out by now.[/blockquote] ♫ everybody's gonna love today, love today, love today everybody's gonna love today anyway you want to, anyway you've got to ♫

Although it was a bit hard to tell the Shieldon was getting tired as well. The fact that He had a pretty high defense didn't cause the battle to go any shorter, and also the albino had been hitting him with a bit more powerful moves than his simple Tackles. Making it so that they were pretty evenly matched in terms of health at the moment. Another Covet or two could finish him off.
As soon as the protect wore off the opposing trainer smiled, the Cyndaquil had been relaxing while the Protect wore off, meaning that it might be a bit unprepared for the next attack. Still smiling the trainer said, "Shieldon! Use Tackle while the Cyndaquil is still relaxed!" The Sheidon smiled, seeing the small plan that his trainer had put in action.
He ran at the albino, rock head put forward to hit the Cyndaquil. His step however was a bit slower than usual showing his lowish health. Hoping to hit the albino, due to the fact that he could be ready for the attack.

Sulteron;; ♫ i've been crying for so long, fighting tears just to carry on, but now, but now it's gone away ♫ Ilabi had tried to remain alert and able to move out of harm's way if needed, but it seemed that she had failed this since she was hit by the Tackle while trying to scramble desperately away. She was thrown to the ground, annoyed with herself but at the same time pleased that she had at least been able to stop for a little while to catch her breath and allow her muscles to have a little time to be supplied with more oxygen.
Sulteron made a mental note to, the next time they had a training session, work on Ilabi's reaction times so that this sort of thing would not happen in future. She felt that that turn had been wasted. As much as she would have liked to have been able to have her Cyndaquil use a stat changer, the Taunt made that impossible and the Protect had meant that neither of them had landed an offensive move, although she reasoned that had Ilabi not have relaxed that turn, she would have been able to avoid that attack. The Espeon 'morph was a little annoyed at herself for this, but then again Ilabi had needed a rest and it would have been mean to have let that oppertunity go to waste... well, that was by the by and in the past now. "Use another Covet!" she called.
Another Covet. As good as those were proving to be, Ilabi wished she knew some other moves so that she could make the battle more interesting and varied and be less predictable herself. She obeyed, of course, aware that this was her best chance of making the Shieldon faint before her steadily growing weakness overcame her. The intention of this attack was to strike Shieldon before he could move on from the Tackle, and it meant attacking while still collapsed on the ground to save time and hopefully earn the element of surprise.

The Sheidon, smiled as he hit the albino. The fact that the albino was not ready for the attack had helped the attack hit. The Sheidon looked behind himself and smiled seeing that the little Cyndaquil had collapsed on the ground. Smiling he looked away, happy that the battle was over. Not noticing that the Cyndaquill had gotten up and was waiting for another attack order from Sulteron.
As soon as the command by Sultron happened. Sheidon started to look behind himself. The Cyndaquill couldn't have gotten up could he? He had collapsed. As most people know, a Sheidon's rock hard head is the reason why it has such a good defense. Hit one from the back and the defense is always lower than usual. Meaning that a attack does more damage.
The Covert attack hit the Shiedon's back straight on. If this was from the front it would have a smaller effect. However this caused the Sheidon to faint. His trainer, pulled out a pokeball and called him back.

Sulteron;; ♫ l.i.f.e.g.o.e.s.o.n, what you don't have now will come back again you've got heart, and you're going your own way ♫ Shieldon had fainted? This was great! Ilabi looked relieved and pleased to gain levels, but was too weak to celebrate much and slumped back to the ground as Sulteron returned her to her Pokéball for a well-earned rest. Larvitar smiled, pleased that the trainer he'd chosen to accompany for now had performed well in her first battle. Next he'd perhaps help her catch her first Pokémon; after all, he was a member of her team but he hadn't agreed to a Pokémon for the time being.
Sulteron walked up to the kid, Kaleb, and held out her hand for him to shake. "Thank you, that was a good battle. I have learned a lot from it, as I imagine you have too. I can see potential in you and don't let this stop you, OK? Keep getting stronger, and maybe we'll meet again and if we do, maybe you'll beat me!" she smiled.
After saying goodbye, Sulteron walked off down the path with Larvitar following, making his own way through the undergrowth. She felt she should perhaps give him a name, but while he was a member of her team he didn't want a Pokéball and so she felt he could choose whether or not he had a name and whether or not she chose that name. As it was, she gave a Pokémon a name they liked, but she felt it would be right to let Larvitar bring up a name for him first.
Larvitar himself had witnessed a number of trainers passing through Route One and understood what it was they needed to learn about the basics of training and what some might miss out on, so had decided that he would teach Sulteron about how battling was to the opposing Pokémon so that she might be able to step into their shoes in future and be able to predict what they would do next and even perhaps learn something about what situations to battle in and which situations were better to handle with a conversation. He searched for a wild Pokémon so that he could fight them as Sulteron's Pokémon, so that Sulteron might learn something and possibly add to her team of Pokémon.

Occ/Good, no?
In the grass, a hunter lurked, slowly, stealthy, it made it's way to it's target, a Larvitar, apparently looking for something. The grasses moved slightly as he made his way through them. His tail moving through the air side to side as he readied his hind legs to pounce on the unsuspecting target. Then as soon as he was ready he sprang off the ground wailing a battle cry as he moved through the air, claws ready to scratch the face of the opponent. He was a Meowth and this is what he was meant to do.

Sulteron;; ♫ l.i.f.e.g.o.e.s.o.n, what you don't have now will come back again you've got heart, and you're going your own way ♫ ooc// I freakin' love you right now. Always wanted a Meowth for one of my charries, never got one.
ic// Larvitar saw the grass rustling but the Meowth was a good hunter and had disguised himself well. It wasn't until the claws of the cat darted across the face of the little dragon that he was noticed. Larvitar felt his muscles tense as his brain shot adrenalin through his body, switching instantaneously to fighting mode. Without much thought, he used a quick Sandstorm attack to bring a whirling cloud of dust over the battle which would injure Meowth on each turn before it subsided, but would have no effect on him as he was a Ground type.
~Sulteron, a Meowth's attacked me! Come over here, help me fight! Maybe I can teach you a thing or two!~
the sound of Larvitar's shout reached Sulteron's fuzzy emerald ears, which turned in the direction of the fight before her lilac eyes did. She hurried over to see Larvitar facing Meowth, watching his every move as he waited for the cat to attack again while he analysed his opponent to try and made predictions as to his fighting style and abilities. The Sandstorm made it a little harder for Sulteron to see, but it wasn't too bad and she felt as though she wasn't entirely neccessary for Larvitar to fight; more, as she said, as if she was there to learn from him.[/blockquote] ♫ on my last night on earth, i won't look to the sky, just breathe in the air, and blink in the light on my last night on earth, i'd pay a high price to have no regrets and be done with my life ♫

occ/ Meowth, thats right! ;D
The Meowth got up quickly smiling seeing that the attack had hit, and had even hit the face direct on. He also noticed that sand had started to whip up, stinging him very slowly sapping his health. He also noticed the pokemorph making haste to enter the scene. Smiling he put two and two together, figuring out that he was going to battle a trainer's Pokemon. However he didn't care, it would just make it all the more interesting.
Smiling he got on the ground tail whipping in the air. The sand still slowly sapping his health. He knew that he had to be quick to finish the Larvitar or else this sandstorm could do some damage to him. He pounced once again screaming "Kayyy!" to attempt to surprise the opponent again. Once again aiming for the face to do some more damage. He knew that he was lucky to land the first hit, but hoped for a bit more luck to be able to land another hit.

Sulteron;; ♫ l.i.f.e.g.o.e.s.o.n, what you don't have now will come back again you've got heart, and you're going your own way ♫ ooc// Meowths can't learn Tail Whip, I'm pretty certain.
ic// A surprise attack was more difficult to try and achieve if the opponent was prepared and had just experienced the very same move. It was for this reason that Larvitar was prepared for the oncoming Scratch attack, and while he did not quite manage to dodge it, the battle cry and repeated technique was enough to make him realise what was happening, brace himself, and move so that he at least took the attack on his back, a more protected area of his body. He then, without waiting for an order from Sulteron, attempted to swiftly Bite Meowth's arm.
Sulteron watched this, thinking to take the time to take note of anything important that could be learned from this battle. So far, she had considered that it was probably not a good idea to repeat a tactic, at least not straight away, and, by the way that Larvitar had not bothered with any uneccesary theatricals like battle cries or fancy acrobatics while Meowth had given away his attack and his chance at a surprise by making a battle cry, it was better sometimes to just do what was needed and not try anything fancy; that was more for coordinators. "You're doing well, Larvitar! I think you might need to work more on listening to your trainer, but you are doing well on your own, too!" she called some words of encouragement. Everyone had something to improve upon, and from what she could tell, for Larvitar that was listening.
