Sulteron;; ♫ i've been crying for so long, fighting tears just to carry on, but now, but now it's gone away ♫ Sulteron the shiny Espeon Pokémorph was walking happily along route one. The weather was growing colder, so she was wearing a nice warm jacket, and there was a light breeze going with a fair few clouds covering up the sky, but she hadn't exactly expected autumn to be all blue skies and warmth. She didn't mind. She was a trainer now, walking confidently along with a much more timid form trailing along behind her. A little mouse Pokémon, with gleaming red eyes, smooth pale skin and a blazing blue fire on her back. This was her starter Pokémon, Ilabi the albino Cyndaquil. She was walking a few metres behind her trainer, squeaking every now and then and hiding behing something. Sulteron stopped, turning round. Up until now she had let the Pokémon do that, but now she wanted her to be braver and trust her more.
"Look, Ilabi. I understand you're afraid of the big wide world and all, but you don't have to hide from me. If you're scared of anything, I can protect you; promise. You've gotta stop being so afraid and untrusting, but I know that kind of thing takes time. We'll work on it, all right? In the meantime, can't we all just be friends?" she asked the little Fire type hopefully. Ilabi looked at her with an expression of both intense respect and fear, pausing for several moments before running up to Sulteron on all fours and hugging a leg tightly for security. Sulteron grinned, happy that the Pokémon was finally warming up to her. "See? It's not that bad," she reached down and stroked the Pokémon's head gently.
Ilabi nodded. ~I suppose. I'll try not to be so nervous.~
she replied in a small voice, drawing herself up to her full height to try and look brave before relaxing again as they moved on, toddling along happily on two legs alongside her trainer, this time keeping close to her for protection whilst all the while looking out for any wild Pokémon. An encounter with a wild Pokémon might be a little scary, but if she could battle courageously, then hopefully she'd have proven herself, win or lose. In fact, she wanted to see what this battling stuff was all about. She wanted to see all sorts of interesting and rare Pokémon, train and level up and maybe even evolve some day. Still, she knew this would all take some work and for now she should just try to enjoy it. And be safe, too. Sulteron was pleased that Ilabi had decided to walk close to her. Whether or not it was because she sought protection and comfort, it showed some sort of respect and trust between the two. After all, they were all each other had right now. If they ignored each other, Ilabi would have no-one to care for her in this delicate developing stage, and Sulteron would probably be crushed by any loneliness since it would remind her of the time her twin rejected her and her parents- well, enough about that. She would suffer severely without anyone with her until she became stronger, and while herself and the Cyndaquil didn't know it, it wasn't just Ilabi who would strengthen in character and move on from their past and be happy from this journey. The Espeon 'morph was for now keeping herself alert for any signs of wild Pokémon, hoping something interesting would happen soon.[/blockquote] ♫ everybody's gonna love today, love today, love today everybody's gonna love today anyway you want to, anyway you've got to ♫

Striding along down the path with an air of ease and confidence was another pokemon. He was humming to himself, some gravelly song with a goodly amount of base. The green, spiked pokemon was enjoying the brisk autumn air. He didn't even notice Sulteron and Ilabi until he had almost reached them. Spotting the duo, the Larvitar smiled a toothy grin and stopped walking, leaving a healthy space between them in case this trainer was an attack first, talk later type of person. He was intruigued was her unusual appearance -humans didn't usually have tails, did they?- as well as her pokemon friend. "Hey-a tuts. What brings a cute thing like you out to my neck of the woods?" he asked, cocking a dashing eyebrow at Ilabi.

Sulteron;; ♫ i've been crying for so long, fighting tears just to carry on, but now, but now it's gone away ♫ As Larvitar approached, Sulteron decided it would be best to not jump into battle because Ilabi's only move would be not very effective against a Larvitar. At least, she thought that after she became a little excited about seeing such a rare Pokémon on the first route. Ilabi blushed as Larvitar spoke to her, dashing behind her trainer's legs. Sulteron chuckled, turning to the little spikey dragon. "Don't mind her, she's just very shy. I'm her trainer, Sulteron," she introduced herself in a friendly way.
Ilabi thought Larvitar seemed very confident and probably a nice guy who tried to look tough as well, but of course she naturally had no special feelings for him since he was in a different egg group to her. ~H-Hi. My name's Ilabi. We just came from the lab; you're the first Pokémon we've met. Is there anything we can do for you?~
she asked, probably the most she'd spoken since Sulteron had first recieved her. She sort of wanted to battle something, but didn't know whether Larvitar wanted a fight or not.[/blockquote] ♫ everybody's gonna love today, love today, love today everybody's gonna love today anyway you want to, anyway you've got to ♫

(*headdesk* Misread the egg group list. Well, there goes that idea out the window.....)
Deciding this pair was safe, Larvitar stepped forward and reached up to grab Sulteron's hand, brushing his scaly mouth over them in a gentlemanly kiss. Despite the egg group difference, he continued to attempt to flirt with Ilabi in a friendly way.
"The shyest blooms are the last to blossom, and yet the most beautiful. A lab flower too, you say? I've never had much use for the lab. Too many hot headed humans ready to attack you as soon as look at you. Not that I dislike battling, mind. But dodging pokeballs gets tiring after a while. Me, I prefer a true adventure. I'm still waiting for the right someone to come along with ambition to match my own." The ground type sighed heavily to himself and looked up at the clouds, trying to look thoroughly morose. "Still, its not every day a guy meets a pair of pretty dames like you. Especially a considerate human who understands the language. I must admit, I'm intrigued. Where are you lovely ladies off to?"

Sulteron;; ♫ i've been crying for so long, fighting tears just to carry on, but now, but now it's gone away ♫ ooc// Maybe next time, yeah? I think it'd be fun to give Ilabi a boyfriend.
Ilabi blushed, and giggled. Larvitar was a really nice guy, it seemed, and quite the charmer. She liked him in a friendly way, although still obviously not anything more than that. ~Heehee, you know how to praise people, don't you?~
she complimented him shyly. She felt she could easily be good friends with this Pokémon, and was even coming out of her shell a bit around him- she was out in the open rather than hiding behind Sulteron, for once. Sulteron noticed this, thinking it a good idea to have Larvitar around to help the Cyndaquil's confidence. Sulteron replied to the Ground type's question. "Just trying to have fun, really. Wondering about, seeing what interesting stuff we can find, trying to have a bit of an adventure like you, really. I'm gonna try my luck at the gym challenge, but in my opinion it's not really about winning or training or anything, it's about having fun, achieving personal goals and becoming better people. Care to tag along for a little and see if we can find anything interesting around here?" she offered to the Larvitar.[/blockquote] ♫ everybody's gonna love today, love today, love today everybody's gonna love today anyway you want to, anyway you've got to ♫

Larvitar turned his head to one side as he considered Sulteron's offer. It was true, she was not like any trainer he had met before. He stood a much better chance of having a fun adventure with her than by himself. And the journey was sure to be amusing with these two to tease. "Your offer is gracious, and I accept. Though if you'd leave off that pokeball thing for a while I would appreciate it. I don't want to spend my life sleeping in the dark."Congradulations! Larvitar joined your team.

Sulteron;; ♫ i've been crying for so long, fighting tears just to carry on, but now, but now it's gone away ♫ Sulteron smiled as Larvitar joined her, pleased as this would definately help out Ilabi's confidence considerably. She was happy to have him as a wild Pokémon travelling with her for now, of course- she didn't want to catch anything against it's will. "Right, then! Let's go and see what else we can see, shall we?" she smiled, leading the way continuing along the first route. She hoped to arrive in the first town before too long, but first she wanted to give Ilabi a battle. Preparation would be useful at this stage, and a battle would be just the thing to introduce her gently into the world of being a trainer's Pokémon.
Ilabi herself was happy to follow, a little cautious and staying close to Sulteron still, although she was a little further because she felt more comfortable in the presence of Lartvitar. The spikey Pokémon was feeling quite pleased with himself, looking about for any sign of anything interesting. Some adventure would be just perfect- it was what he lived for, after all. He kept an eye on the albino next to him, too, making sure she was all right and keeping up. She had seemed pretty nervous before, so he didn't want anything bad happening to her.

If a battle was what Sulteron was looking for, she had come to the right place. Sauntering up and down the path was a little boy. His green cap was askew and his eyes were bright with excitment. Spotting Sulteron and her group approaching, he walked to the middle of the road and planted his feet, hands on his hips.
"I challenge you to a pokemon battle!" the ten year old called, pointing a finger at the espeon morph. "Keel and I are going to crush you." As he said this, a Shieldon poked his head around the trainers knees. He growled in Ilabi's direction and walked out to stand in front of Kaleb, ready to fight.

Sulteron;; ♫ i've been crying for so long, fighting tears just to carry on, but now, but now it's gone away ♫ Sulteron smiled as the kid appeared, randomly challenging her to a battle. Sounded fun and interesting, at any rate. He'd picked Keel, a Shieldon- another type disadvantage faced her. She supposed she shouldn't keep avoiding them, so decided she might as well train Ilabi to overcome them. "All righty then, I accept. Ilabi, start off with a Leer followed by a Tackle," she spoke her orders calmly and quickly, putting as much certainty as she could into the command for the nervous Cyndaquil's sake.
Ilabi let out a squeak, turning to face her first opponent. Larvitar gave her an encouraging cheer, and she faced her opponent with her vivid red eyes. They bore into Keel's, the albino trying to make herself look as scary as possible to try and lower the Shieldon's defense stat. That done, she shot towards him in a Tackle. She was faster than either her or Sultern had expected, which she supposed was a good thing. It seemed pretty accurate, too, but possibly not the strongest of things- Tackle wouldn't be very effective, would it?

Sulteron need not have worried too much about the type differences. Keel was just as young and inexperienced as his trainer, and did not know his strengths and weaknesses yet. The Shieldon cringed as Ilabi's glare pierced him to the heart, feeling vurnerable as his defenses fell. He shook his head, trying to clear it. When Keel opened his eyes Ilabi was already right now top of him, bearing down with a tackle. The two pokemon collided, the force of the impact sending Keel stumbling backward.
"Don't worry about it. Just respond with a Tackle of your own." Kaleb called, his little hands balled into fists at his side. The youth was super excited by the battle. "When you get a chance, try a Taunt and don't look into her eyes."

Sulteron;; ♫ i've been crying for so long, fighting tears just to carry on, but now, but now it's gone away ♫ Sulteron was pleased to see the Tackle deal some damage despite the type disadvantage- it seemed that Keel was so inexperienced it didn't matter so much. The Taunt and Tackle both hit Ilabi, who whimpered, letting out a small terrified squeak as she shook in fright. That had been a bit of a shock for her, and Sulteron hoped she wouldn't chicken out of the rest of the battle or anything like that. She knew that now the albino wouldn't be able to use the move Smokescreen, which she had been hoping to because it lowered attack stats, which was useful. "Covet!" she called.
Ilabi remained frozen for a moment before the order registered. She blinked, thinking about what Taunt did. That stopped her using stat changers, didn't it? Hm. Annoying. She ached from the Tackle as well, but otherwise felt all right. She smiled at Keel sweetly, a rush of little pink hearts shooting from her to her opponent in the Normal type move which would injure the Sheildon a little more than a Tackle would have done. It looked more accurate, too, as the fire mouse was gaining confidence.

Keel stumbled backward as the Covet attack struck him on the nose. He shook his head to clear it, waiting for Kaleb's next instruction. It seemed that most of this battle would be carried out with Tackles, as that was the command the little boy shouted. Keel tried feinting slightly to the left, trying to catch Ilabi off balance. Or maybe it was a sign of the slight fatigue that the effects of the battle were catching up to him and his lowered defenses?

Sulteron;; ♫ i've been crying for so long, fighting tears just to carry on, but now, but now it's gone away ♫ Sulteron watched as Keel seemed to be feinting to the left but was also showing signs of weakening already. Good. She couldn't do anything for Ilabi as the inexperienced Cyndaquil failed to notice the basic trick and was knocked to the ground by the Sheildon. She was a little annoyed at this, both because that had hurt and because Shieldon was so much slower than her she would have thought she should be able to dodge and see through silly things like that. Sulteron was aware that she would be making a lot of mistakes at first and so carried on anyway. "Ilabi, counter it with another Covet!" she called.
The albino thought this seemed like a decent idea. After all, Tackle was her other option, and that needed a bit of a run-up which would be difficult with Keel so close after his attack. A Covet was a physical move which didn't need any run-up, making it useful in this sort of situation. She produced a few more hearts, lunging out to attack the Shieldon in her Covet attack.

Kaleb, then called out his next command as, Keel, his Shieldon was hit with the attack, but as he wasn't holding an item he just took damage,"Counter it with a Tackle attack," he said. Keel nodded as he ran at the Cyndaquil using a Tackle attack hopping to hit the small Pokemon. Kaleb, saw what Sulteron was doing. She was relying on power attacks, but power attacks could only get you so far before you've have to go on the defense.

Sulteron;; ♫ i've been crying for so long, fighting tears just to carry on, but now, but now it's gone away ♫ The Tackle attack hit Ilabi, making the Cyndaquil give a small squeak of pain. She didn't like being hit by the large dinosaur Pokémon. Still, she knew she had to deal with it and get on with the battle. She didn't want to let her trainer down, after all.
Sulteron was thinking that perhaps it would be a good idea to make Ilabi's attacks more effective, since at the moment as they were all Normal type moves they weren't so effective against the Sheildon. This would be a good time for a Leer, then. "Ilabi, use a Leer then quickly a Covet while you're up close!" she called. A close range with a distance attack like the Tackle would be a bad idea, since there wouldn't be any distance to build up speed, but Covet was fine.
The albino Fire type used the Leer, staring at Keel in a way that would lower his defence stat. She then sent another flurry of little hearts his way in an attempt to strike him a more painful blow from close range. This would be more difficult to dodge, as well as with any luck dealing more damage thanks to the Leer and short distance between Ilabi and Keel.
