Shara could hardly contain herself any longer. She paused en route and couldn't help bouncing in a tight circle gaily. "Isn't this exciting, Chikorita?" She exclaimed, noticing after her outburst that she might have spooked Chikorita. She smiled apologetically, for it seemed that she had in fact startled her Pokemon partner. "Sorry.... I'm just so...so...so pumped!" She said, laughing with embarrassment after she realized that was her second outburst in under five minutes. "Well, lets go!" She said excitedly, holding out her hand for Chikorita to take hold of it with one of her vines, which she did with a soft and timid smile. Shara smiled back and started walking down Route 1, leading Chikorita but also walking right beside her partner.

The Pokémon of route one were generally reasonably friendly and used to humans as a large amount of new trainers travelled along daily. They had learned that by helping out new trainers and perhaps battling them while giving constructive critism, they were likely to repay them with tasty man-made treats and at any rate it was good experience. The Pokémon that first approached Shara and her as yet unnamed Chikorita could see that Chikorita was shy and so took this into account when he spoke to them.

A green and cream coloured monkey Pokémon with some plant growing on top of his head, marking him out as fairly obviously a grass type while also offering camouflage, stepped up to the two with a friendly smile on his face. This was a Pansage, and he looked at Shara and yipped in greeting, being polite although he knew that as a human Shara would be unable to understand his 'hello'. He then turned to Chikorita, making smooth movements rather than any sudden ones, and gently introduced himself. ~Hello, Miss Chikorita, you are looking excellent today. It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Pansage, and I would be happy to help you in whatever way I can. I promise I will not attack you and will be sure to answer any questions you have as best as I can.~ he said, giving a bow.

Shara was amazed to see a Pokemon approach them so quickly and in such a friendly manner! And one that she had never seen before on top of that. She watched as the Pokemon bowed to Chikorita, smiling in excitement and relief. From the sounds the Pokemon was making, Shara was able to pick out what she thought the name was: Pansage. She had never heard of this Pokemon before, but he seemed to be grass type. Which was right up her ally.

Chikorita was nervous of course when the Pansage first appeared, but she peeked out from behind Shara's legs -- where she had jumped behind when the other Pokemon at first appeared -- to look at him. Her eyes watching him closely and nervously though not meanly. She nodded when Pansage introduced himself, clearly relieved that there was no battle being proposed so quickly. She came out from behind Shara at that, smiling shyly and bobbing her head in greeting. ~Hello, Pansage. Thank you for not attacking me.~ She replied, trying to think if she really had any questions.

Shara was glad to see Chikorita getting along so well with the Pansage, and immediately started wondering if he might like to join them at some point.... "So little guy, you're a grass type aren't you? And your name is...Pansage? Correct?" She asked, hoping she was correct in her earlier assumption. She bent her knees so that she was closer to his and Chikorita's eye level. Oblivious that she was possibly interrupting a conversation, not that Chikorita minded much.
